It's America, he has first amendment rights. That being said, having the legal right to use free speech also comes with taking responsibility for what you say.

What he said was racist and sexist and inflammatory. Why do network shows (radio and television) allow this type of behavior?

They openly jump on the bandwagon to criticize any celebrity that crosses the politically correct border, but rarely sanction their own people for doing the same.

It reminds me of the b*tch on CNN who drove that young mother of a missing child to suicide with her brutal questioning.

The media in this country needs to be held accountable for their collateral damage.

Everyone has the right to say whatever they want. But they also must suffer the consequences of any statements that are racist, belittling, or downright crude. We have moral values in this nation that reign in free speech--you can say anything that you want, but if you inflame or disrespect people, you should not expect to be able to hide behind the 1st amendment and not be penalized for your actions.

I think it is hilarious that white ppl love to say " freedom of speech" , "it's more than likely true", "get over it" and in the same breath say they are not racist. I personally don't mind the overt racist, at least with them I know. It's the lying covert ones that piss me off. Does he have the right to say what he wants on air, sure and Janet Jackson also had the right to show her black a.s.s tit on air too....Now what?

i hate imus but he has a right to joke on the air or anywhere about anyone. has anyone ever listened to the ***** stations like kissfm or the other colored stations? they mock whites and make race issues of every story that has to do with a white person or white guest.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. That's where the freedom of speech comes in.

yes it's called freedom of speech, but the only time it seems to be free is if someone isn't offended or said in the privacy of your own home and not in public

Yes, he has a right to say it and we have a right to deride him for it and a right to reasonably expect that he be fired for it.
