Here are some "life changing", inspirational-type ***fiction*** books (check out summaries and reviews on Amazon.com):

*The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
*Life of Pi by Yann Martel
*Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman

And one of my favorite, practical ***non-fiction*** ones is Richard Carlson's Don't Sweat the Small Stuff. It's not life-changing in an obvious or grand way, but shares everyday, concrete advice that can altogether improve your attitude and interactions with others -- and therefore help change your life...

Deep Books To Read

If you're truly looking for a book that will change your whole perspective on the meaning of life, my highest recommendation is "The Book: On the Taboo Against Knowing Who You Are," by Alan Watts. I first encountered it when I was 20, and upon reading it I felt that I had been looking for it for years.

I also second the recommendation for "Island," by Huxley, but that's fiction and you really have to read between the lines. Read it after the Watts book, not before.

Another good one, a non-fiction book that would go quite well with "Island," is "Wherever You Go, There You Are," by John Kabat-Zinn.

The Bible is the best book to read, if youv'e never read it start with the book of John. Jesus loves you more than you could ever imagine, and the bible is his love story. No other book is as deep or life changing--if your'e looking for Jesus.

I'd have to agree that "The Last Sin Eater" was, indeed, life-changing.

Also, try "Thorn in My Heart" by Liz Curtis Higgs (It's the first of four; the second book being "Fair is the Rose", the third being "Whence Came a Prince" and the fourth being "Grace in Thine Eyes." (these are all based on the biblical story of Genesis 25:19--35:29)

Read "Captivating" and "Wild at Heart" by John and Staci Eldrerage. The first is about how God sees women, the second about how God sees men.

Although "A Wrinkle in Time" is called a children's story, I can assure you that it is not limited to the younger audience.

"Embraced by the Light" by Bettie J. Eadie.

And The Book of John.

I'd recommend "Stranger in the Strange Land" by Robert A. Heinlein, "Siddhartha" By Hermann Hesse, "Schrodinger's Cat Trilogy" by Robert A. Wilson.

Ask and It Is Given by Abraham-Hicks. It is absolutely amazing! It basically tells you how anything and everything in the universe can be yours. It'll make you love life and the person you are.

oh well I loved the Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers. You might also enjoy C.S. Lewis his "The Screwtape Letters" caused quite a scandal when it came out. I recently led a Bible study over it and several women were very shocked! He is great.

Illusions, by Richard Bach. It's a philosophical novel about idealism. You may not be an idealist after reading it, but it will really make you think.
