Ok, when your lips are dry and peeling it means your body is not intaking enough water, 7 glasses a day, at min I would be drinking at least 4. Remember soda and juices can actually dehydrate you! Def. water, water, water! I am completely in agreement that you can become addicated to chapstick. You don't feel right if you don't have it on. I know many, many people like that. It has also happened to me. I use chapstick brand but I switch between the mint, cherry, org...and those other flavors...Also using a MEDICATED chapstick, if it's blistix or one of those store brand medicated ones, actually can make your lips dryer. DO not use CARAMEX it's yellow w/ a red cap, It's crap. Burt's Bee's also makes a nice lip balm. Switch it up, b/c you lips become amune. THis might sound dumb, but you know how if you use the same shampoo daily over and over, that it becomes less effective and your hair gets used to it. The same can happen for lip balm. Also at night you might wanna try the Neutroga lip balm (greenish color) It works wonders! :) but I don't use it for day time. :) GOOD LUCK! xo's JILL

Hey! I have the exact same problem as you, its such a tough subject because some only work for an our or so..

This is what i do.. I take my exfoliator and exfolitate my lips, sephora has a good one.. then i apply mr.feelgood from sephora and thenn right before i go to bed i liberallly apply pure vasleine over my lips and even onto my skin around my lips to soften and make it help soothe the redness.

I do this about 2-3x a week and add/or take during the winter//summer months.

During the day i apply carmex, i swear by this product.

Dont use burts bees, it burns!!

Use Nivea Creme. Unlike a chapstick that will just cover the split dry lips with grease, cream will actually moisturise your lips and help soothe the problem begin the healing process. Buy their smallest size and carry it with you in your pocket/handbag ALWAYS! Better yet, it doesn't taste all that pleasant, so you won't be tempted to lick your lips - the likely cause of the problem in the first place.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment - it is soothing and sinks right in. No dependency. A great drugstore product.

Kiehl's #1 Lip Balm - very good but pricey.

The problem w/ Chapstick-like products is that wax can seal in moisture but it also seals out moisture creating a vicious cycle. Avoid products w/ menthol or eucalyptus - they may create an initial cool sensation but irritate lips over time. Also avoid products w/ salicylic acid. Salicylic acid promotes exfoliation but it may also create excessive peeling.

try burt's bees. i had the same problem as u. my lips were really dry, cracky, for no reason all year long, but i recently tried burt's bees lip gloss and it's way better than any brand chapstick.it's more oily so it lasts all day, but don't worry, it's not sticky, they come in great flavors, (i have cherry) and give u a supple shine. good luck nd hope i helped!!!!!!!!!

Same problem. I like to use Aquafina "FlavourSplash" Lip Balm. It makes my lips all smooth and shiny without the sticky-ness of lip gloss. Lasts a while too. ^.^

Also you can use the She Butter, is a very popular product.
