A heating pad or hot water bottle can be very helpful but because of the severity of the situation you need to see your dr to have this situation evaluated to see what could be causing this.

In the mean time try increasing the iron level during this time by eating things like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course). I found that this not only helped to reduce the amount of flow coming out but also eased my cramps some.

limit the amount of sugar and caffeine in your diet, especially when you are having your period. There are some herbs that would help - chamomile and passionflower are 2 that I know of. A heating pad will help somewhat, and make sure you are excersicing regularly. Also try over the couner drugs like midol. If this doesn't help, there are stronger drugs that your doctor can perscribe, but they have side effects.

Another thing i found that was of help was to go on birth control pills which help regulate the hormones.

Awww sweetie you poor thing. I suffer from irregular periods and they are a right pain in the a*se! I would go and see my gynecologist if I was in your shoes. Meanwhile, hot water bottles, ibuprofen, bubble baths work for me. Some people say gentle exercise but I don't know how they can exercise with that sort of pain : P rubbing my tummy in circles always helps me. Hope this helps xXx

Warm baths, heating pads or other soothing manipulation of cramped areas can help. My wife used to love to have her lower back rubbed quite deeply to soothe her cramps.

Medication-wise, try ibuprofen or a naproxin-type pain reliever (Aleve).

And, no joke, I have heard that having sex can help with cramps. That may or may not depend on the woman, but I have heard several women say that it releases the cramped feeling.

Hey! I used to get horrible cramps, diarrhea, nausea, horrible migranes and pimples throughout my period. Once I started Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo (a type of birth control pill), I only had a little bit of cramps.
Hope this is useful! (at least for the cramps)
