Yeah, I can sure think of reasons. I have this friend that can go on forever and ever about one dumb thing. Usually when they do this I just put the phone down, come back in 5 minutes, they're still rambling on about what their cat did last saturday, and I put the phone down again. But I usually only hang up on accident.

Better still, if a sales person phones you up, rather than hanging up say, "Hang on for a couple of seconds. I've got to turn the gas off otherwise dinner will be spoiled."

Then walk off for half an hour.

I am guilty of doing that. If I am in a tiff with someone and they keep saying the same thing OVER and over hoping to get a different response than my original one, it's not worth listening to their nonsense. I do tell them before I do. Ok conversation over buh bye and hang up.

Yes when you just can't get through to them, and they keep talking over you, So you know they are not listening. and they become belligerent. I will not listen to it, as I give them respect and ask for the same. I will say I am hanging up, I've had enough.

Yes, when they truely offend you. If you are arguing with them then you should let them get everything they want to say out then share after, but don't hang up mid-arguement, then you're in for trouble.

I have actually hung up on people (only a few times) after I have told them I have to go but they insist on talking more. Sometimes enough is enough.

I've done it to telemarketers who call me after 7pm. Also to a relative who would not stop putting down someone I cared for.

I do it all the time to telemarketers who won't listen to me when I say NO THANK YOU.

I generally reserve it for people who are so busy talking that they are not listening to me. hanging up makes them stop talking and realize they should have listened.
