You may want to check out some other yard sales in the area before you have yours. Generally prices are higher on the first day and by the end of the second day anything goes just to get rid of the stuff. It all depends on the condition, quantity and whether or not there is a demand for the items. Many things go for 10 cents to one dollar and furniture can vary. At any rate, people go to yard sales for bargains. You can charge less if someone buys a lot of different things. You also might want to check out used items on ebay.

cd's and dvd's sell them on Amazon, you'll get way more than you ever thought you could get.
Baby stuff brings top dollar in the driveway if its CLEAN. Clothing is always a tough sell, however the worse the local economy, the more people will buy clothes at yard sales.
Housewares.. have plenty of change on hand, everyone wants stuff for a Quarter.
Good Luck.

Well, there are 2 theories to this yard sale business:
Do you want to sell? Or do you want to take the stuff back into your house? Do you think you're going to get rich or do you just want to get rid of some stuff?
If you think you're going to get rich, be prepared to take back stuff into the house at the end of the day. But if you just want to get rid of stuff and perhaps make a bit of $$$, then price it reasonable. Keep in mind that it is used and people won't pay high prices for used....
Look on ebay for similar stuff and check out what the stuff is selling for, look at ads and circulars and new prices and take it from there. If the stuff is in good condition, stay closer to the new price. If not, stay closer to the low end. But if you're like me, basically, you just want to get rid of stuff...
When I have a yard sale, anything that doesn't sell gets sent off to help the poor at the salvation army...

If it is in really good shape, maybe 50% of retail. Yard sales are where people go to find good bargains on used stuff. If you really want to get rid of it, and not take it all back in the house, set your prices accordingly.

if its new, unused--50% off the original price. if its used---75% off the original price. but be prepared to haggle. people want the best bargain. if you absolutely want $3 for those levi's, then put a $4 price tag on it. when they ask if you take less, say yes, $3, then they're happy coz they got you to lower it and you got what you wanted anyway! it works at the flea market for me when i'm selling.

Does a 'yard sale' mean that they are selling a yard?
