Strange as it may seem to you, not everyone, and in fact, MOST people on Earth do NOT consider the bible a very reliable source of information. Why don't you try live and let live as a motto ? Or, how about "judge not lest ye be judged." I believe that one comes from your bible...or do you only follow certain parts of your bible..the parts that fit your feelings? You need to take a deep look within your soul to find these answers...you may not like what you see.

Because gays are trying do what ever they can to make it look like there relationship is normal and it's not. It's hard to use the Bible because #1 most people don't read it and #2 they will find fault in it because who wrote it.Personally I have a few gay friends but it doesn't change my stance because of it. The curious thing I read a big article about how the gays have more relationship troubles then heterosexuals there probably are reasons for that. Someone answered about children.....what children? Gay's cant have children one major drawback to there lifestyle. Should gays be able to marry.....I don't think so......Why?.....Because its wrong?...No....because being gay is a choice and the consequence was already known before the choice was made. The one thing I noticed was most of the answers to the question by females were for gay marriage most males not......wonder why that is......

Well, not everyone believes in the bible and even those who do, don't all feel that it's the absolute authority. And also, in the United States, we have- or are supposed to have- a secular government, which means that we are not ruled by a religion. We don't go by the bible, we go by the constitution.

The bible is many things... but it's not a dictionary!

You need to realize that everyone has different beliefs and try to at least respect people's differences.

Gay and lesbian people have rights too, and many of them wish to marry. Why do they want to marry? For the same reasons that straight people want to marry.

Not all gay and lesbian poeple want to marry, just like not all straight people want to marry. Most of them want the right to make decisions about there own lives- the same rights as anyone else.

I suggest that those who don't believe in same sex marriage only marry someone of the opposite sex, if they do marry, and then worry about their own marriage and not someone elses.

The bible also says that anyone who works on the sabbath should be killed- so why do people want to become professional football players?

It is also really a misquote of the bible to say that marriage is between a man and a woman- if you actually read the bible, marriage is between a man and several women. Yes, polygamy was legal, but it's not legal in the United States! Again, we do not rule by the bible but by the constitution.

Marriage is a privilege it incredibly is predicated on the Bible. it incredibly is a privilege because of the fact a pair could desire to get a marriage license from their city/city. Marriage is a privilege as much as driving is a privilege. i don't get how persons are calling it a suitable, because of the fact it incredibly is not. the rationalization couples could desire to get licenses is to envision for specific maladies (the previous blood attempt. i'm not sure what they attempt for, yet they do) AND the license is a criminal checklist that binds the married guy to the girl even while divorce happens. Marriage is so puffed up as to be a shaggy dog tale now; all the flaws that have substitute socially, and men nonetheless get screwed in divorce...this way of darn shame.

not everyone believes in the literal interpretation of the bible.
it is seen as unacceptable and unnatural for a man to love another man, as is the same for a woman to a woman. many people have argued that it is not a choice for these people to be homosexual, it is just the way that is.
even as a devout catholic, i believe that gay and lesbian couples should receive the same rights in both church and state as straight couples do.
another thing to remember is that the bible was written by men, not god, so it is open to different interpretations and there is a chance that one of these men put some of their own moral values into this divine book on top of those dictated by god.
an open mind is not a bad thing, try it sometime.

Well, I image that there would be several reasons. First one being that we live in a country where we are supposed to have a seperation between church and state, the bible should not be used to dictate what is law and what is not. Secondly, the bible says A LOT that we don't practice or even morally support...Bible encourages slaves, in contemporary culture, that's taboo. Being in the presense of a menstrating woman...etc. etc. etc.

With so much hate and violence in the world, why on earth would people focus so much attention and energy on two people trying to create and family..a loving family...?

Gay Marriage is not the downfall of family or marriage in general - Marriage is a very flawed institution to begin with.

They think they should have equal rights to marriage as men and women do. I hope they never have the right to get married. It's a beautiful union between a man and a woman. Marriage these days isn't taken seriously anymore, so therefore we have the gay marriage dispute. It's a joke if you ask me. Our traditions and values are going down the tubes.

Gay people are not married no matter what even if they have a priest do a ceremony over them and they exchange rings or whatever. God joining two people together is what makes them married. Yall can say the Bible is not to be taken as the final say in the matter but when you die you will be convinced. But then its too late. If God cut off the rain or after a great Hurricane killls thousands of people, you say may they rest in peace with God. Don t use Him to console yourselves after you don t want to obey His word all your life. What hypocrites. Gay people are not married any more than I am married to my dog.

Why do you care? There is a seperation between church and state in America. The bible should not be making legal decisions for us. Most homosexual couples I know have been together than most marriages. If they have the elgal commitment what gives you the right to judge? The bible also says, Judge not lest ye be judged. Think about that.

The greatest lesson in the Bible, which most people don't get, is acceptance of other people. People who are different in their views, looks, ways of life. Love your neighbor like yourself. People here get on thier soapbox and spout religion when they can use it for their cause, when that's exactly what the Bible teaches against.

love is love and whether or not times have changed,(which they have not)people feel a desire to cement that love with the sanctity of marriage and it means just as much for a gay couple as it does a straight couple.just because homosexual relationships were dismissed in the bible DOES NOT mean they didnt happen.closed doors mate.
