From what the new daddy says
During delivery his heart stopped twice while inside her, but she changed position and it started again.
The chord was around his neck and he was face-up but they put thier hands in and turned him around.
When he was born they rushed him away because he was not breathing and did not breath on his own for 10 minutes. I guess the pumped air into his lungs.
Now in the NICU he had some seizures, poor little guy.

I hope for everyone that he is OK, new daddy says the doctors are cautiously optimistic. THey may transfer him to Toronto Sick Kids (the largest and best childrens hospital in the world) for more testing.

I am wondering, when she was pregnant she often came to visit us and complained that the baby was "thrashing around"
I thought that the baby moved less in the last month because of limited space. (my babies movements slowed down)
Do you think that is normal?
Or does it have anything to do with anything?

some babies do move less as the day gets closer it has to do with their space getting smaller cause they are getting bigger..the cord from the sounds of it is the problem..as the baby moved along the birth canal it just kept getting tighter..as for more movement or less during the last few weeks..every child is different whats normal for your pregnancy might not have been for mine..i hope this helps

I have had 4 all of them were normal except the baby he was a preemie.but all the others thrashed around some I remember my #2 child having the hiccups, that was weird, the cord was around my #3 child they had to turn him,my youngest on had Hylandmembrane syndrome, which means the root of his lungs didn't develop and he had massive seizures, but he is now 16 and a buff 220 he is MR from the loss of oxygen ,but he will graduate with his class in 2009.The doctors and hospitals are so wonderful, pray really hard for the young mom and dad, they are the ones that need strength,God has his hands on the little one.Ido remember being afraid because my first one quit moving and the doctor told me he was resting for the jurney to see me,and my 2nd child kicked all the way, never did settle down.

That's hard to answer. I'm the mom of two premature babies. I delivered at 35 and 36 weeks. There are many reasons why this could have happened, but the thrashing probably isn't connected. We will be praying for the baby and the parents. The NICU is a tough place to be.

well they say to go to the hospital if the babies movement is frantic (is that the same as thrashing??) if so, the baby could of already been in distress before the labor started-the cord was probably already wrapped around his neck.
i personnaly feel the baby move a lot but the movement is different, it s not all the kicks and punches anymore, but huge movements and parts noticably pushing out.

Babies will always move around a lot once arms and legs develop and later move less as they get bigger and have less space. Some things about child birth are still hard to figure out .
