He does love her still. (Which is AWESOME, cause I have always shipped Harry/Ginny!) The reason he wanted to break it off is because he knows that it's dangerous to be close to him. Voldemort will undoubtedly go after his loved ones as well as Harry himself. Not only that, but Harry knows that he's probably not going to survive the fight with Voldemort. He wants Ginny to be able to move on, and he figures it'd be a lot easier for her if they weren't together. It's for her safety, both from the Death Eaters and from her own emotions.

Harry broke up with Ginny because he did not want to see her hurt.. every person that he came to care about gets hurt and becomes Voldumorts victim... look how he used Ginny before in book 2 because he knew that Harry cared about Ron and the Weasleys

To answer this question, you must read an earlier book, "Seventeen," by Booth Tarkington, a U.S. author. All through the book, the hero has been courting a girl who is visiting his town for the summer. They are both 17. But there is a 10-year-old younger sister of a friend, who has been a pest all along. But 8 years later, the girl summer visitor has long gone, the hero is 25, and the little sister has become 18. Now the author Tarkington calls her, "the Bride." In "The Deathly Hallows," the author will bring everything to a close and skip forwards several years. Harry Potter ages 10 years. Ginnie Weasley also. They marry. In 10 years, a lot of people can die, some of them of natural causes. Harry Potter becomes the youngest person ever to be headmaster of Hogwarts. Hermione Granger becomes whatever the author ever herself wanted to be.

Like ya'll said because Lord V could harm or manipulate harry by holding a loved one and threatening her. I know if somebody threatened somebody that I love is my worst nightmare. Like I said I think Harry will die and I think Neville still loves Ginny and will end up doing something heroic & save Ginny in the nick of time & they'll end up together.

Um, he explained why! He said that Voldemort likes to go after the people he cares about (his parents, Sirius, now Dumbledore) so he had to break up with her before Voldemort found out about them, for her safety. He even told Ron and Hermione that he wanted to finish this alone so that they'd be out of danger, but they refused to leave him. I'll bet almost anything that Ginny will stick by his side anyway as well.

Obviously he still loved her---but just as he said, it was for her own protection. Voldemort could take advantage of Harry's feelings by hurting Ginny, which would weaken Harry. I think they'll get back together

HARRY LOVES GINNY ALL THE WAY!!!!
harry broke up with her to protect her. he has already lost many loved ones. his parents, godfather, and dumbledore. harry loved all of those and they died trying to protect him. harry loves ginny so much and he doesn't want voldemort to come after her and use her to get him, because deep in his heart i think harry would give his life for hers.

Probably because he was worried that, with all the stuff thats going on in his life (in particular a certain fellow named Lord Voldemort) that she'd be in danger of being killed.

Because he loves her. He doesn't want to hurt her. He wants to protect her. Everybody close to him is in danger.
