how do you activate cheats for Sims 2 for PC?

i have typed in the cheat but i dont know how to activate it i really want to know how to active the motherload one!!!!!

ctrl-alt-shift

you get $50,000 if you type in 'motherlode'

Hold down control+shift+C

type in:
motherlode
or motherloade
(I can't remember how it is spelled but it is not spelled motherload)

you need to push ctrl - alt - c - on your keyboard and then enter the cheat!!
