Ever read 1984? That's what liberalism leads too.
Already on the path considering the way the liberal politicians are trying to rewrite the history of how all but 2 of them voted for war. They still won't admit that the House wouldn't even pass a NONBINDING bill that said we should pull out of Iraq immediately. The vote was something like 450 to 2 against it.
If the libs get it their way all the wealth of the nation will be redistributed, the poor will live for free on welfare and free health care; the government will be HUGE and get most of the money from taxes and the 1.5 million abortions a year will balloon to well over 3 million. Which will be good for them because they want to drastically cut the birth rate across the world because us humans are overcrowding the earth and causing global warming. If they can get the populations down them can all live like Al Gore. You know the guy who makes a horrible documentary about global warming but uses about 20 times MORE energy than the average American family.
Not to mention the disbandment of our military, unless of course the service members are gay, in which case they'll fight tooth and nail for their "right" to be there.
Oh, by the way, Rosie O'Donnell says we shouldn't fear the terrorists because they're just misunderstood and don't mean us any harm. They're freedom fighters. So I guess we should just open the flood gates and let them in right?
That's what liberalism leads too.
It's a sad state of affairs.

Morally Bankrupt? Who are you kidding? The right-wing, bible-thumping, judgmental, money-hounds that seem to coroner the Republican party have less morals than an alley cat! Wait, let me see, Oh Yeah, our President has big interest in the oil companies and they are earning record breaking profits (yup Billions with a B) and poor old Joe Regular that earns $50,000 a year can barely pay for gas every week to go to work. But the liberals are morally bankrupt? Tell me what CONFLICT OF INTEREST is. Explain to me how demand = cost. Or is it supply = cost. The oil companies can't seem to make up their mind. When demand is up they raise the price, when demand is down they raise the price. When supplies are good they raise the price when supplies are low they raise the price....of a gallon of gas or oil. It's a never ending game of we want your money no matter what. Either way, they make money and we loose....and liberals are morally bankrupt? Get a life and really look at what your party is doing...we won't even bring up the lying, much less the war!

It wasn't the downfall of Rome, and won't be the downfall of us.
After reading 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire,' it is clear that the empire fell because the military began selecting the emperors.
Certainly the destruction of the power of the Roman senate and the corresponding rise in the power of the "first citizen" was the change that allowed the later fall, but ultimately the empire began to crumble when it became clear that the only claim to power lay in the military. The troops soon recognized this and began to hand-pick emperors, who then bankrupted the nation by paying out enormous military bonuses -- after all, if they didn't keep the military happy, the troops would just replace them with another emperor who would.

Liberalism has always been the US's strength. One of the most prosperous times in our history was the 1950's when America reaped the benefits of FDR's New Deal. The right wing fascists in the US are what will bring us down.
Yeah, that social darwinism of the righties is so moral. If you can't pay for healthcare, then die. If you don't have a job, then starve. If you can't pay for private school, then you can be illiterate. If you don't have money, we don't give a rat's pattootie. That sounds morally bankrupt to me.
Liberalism believes that society should protect and care for its weakest members with programs so widows, orphans and the elderly don't starve and the sick have care. Liberalism believes that we should protect our environment so everyone has clean air and water. Liberalism believes that individuals have a right to choose who to love and when to give birth.

I actually think it's right wing conservatives who are going to be the down fall of the United States. They seem to have no compassion, empathy,or tolerance for anyone.Everything is black and white, right or wrong,no grey area. The reason this is the greatest country in the World is because of all the diversity we have here. If only we could be kind to each other.

I got something to tell you: conservatism has been in power since 1980 with its jingoist, warmongering, money oriented materialism that is leading USA into a catastrophic downfall in a few decades. Just like Greece, Rome, Byzantium, Spain, Britain, Russia and Germany. Arnold Toynbee once said that civilizations become repressive, decadent and violent before their downfall. [If you ever heard of Toynbee. But conservatives only listen to Limbaugh]

It was many things that caused the fall of Rome. What we would today call Liberalism is just a part the picture. to answer your question... it may be if people don't wake up.

We know you learned that in bible class - not a college level history course. The facts are slightly more complicated - like roman imperialism and corruption at all levels of the government. As usual cons claim "truth" is what pastor bobby joe told them.

I would say yes, probably.
The downfall of Rome was caused because of corrupt leadership, erosion of national identity and common language, and failure to secure it's borders.
Sound familiar?

No. Likely American arrogance will be, as it helps to make enemies. Once the U.S. starts having gladiator games, as in ancient Rome (and in these modern games feeding muslims to lions, instead of christians) then the end is near.
