Hey there. I had sorta the same situation happen to me last month, before I moved. My advice to you is to contact code enforcement for the county in which you live. Tell them everything (sit down and write any little complaint) and they will come out and see if things are up to code. The ventilation issue is a little questionable but that could possibly be a fire hazard if the only way out is the front door. What if the fire is in front of the door? My landlord tried to deny us heat and electricity cuz he was too cheap to fix it so I called county housing code enforcement and they came out and red tagged the breaker box. They also began charging the owner $2,000 a day until he had it fixed professionally-which he never did so instead we moved. Good luck with this jerk~

You would have to check local building codes in the municipality where you live.
