Umm no. But for some reason, I think Catholic's like biblical names. Well not all of them, I mean some names are way out there. But no a Catholic does not need a biblical name to get baptized. If that was the case, I wouldn't be baptized right now.

No, that is not true. My son's first and middle names are not biblical and he was baptized catholic without any problems. When it is time for your son to make his confirmation in 9th grade is when he will choose a biblical name after studying the different saints.

Not true. My family is Catholic and none of my siblings and parents have biblical names and we were baptized and they were baptized.
I also know a woman who had her son baptized a few months ago. His first name is not biblical, so what your nephew says cannot be true. My own name doesn't have to do anything with religion, it's more like poetry.

God would not reject someone because of what the person's name was. There is certainly no Biblical basis for it.
I have heard when people get confirmed, they usually choose a Biblical name for themselves. Maybe some churches do the same sort of thing for baptism, but I certainly have never heard of a church saying a person had to change her legal name to get baptized.

Of course not. I have met many, many people that are Catholics and some of them don't have a Biblical name in their name and they're baptized.

My ohh My, sounds like that person has no idea of Catholicism, LOL!!!
You can call a baby Slapbamwalla or FrogstompNToejam and that kid can still be baptized. LOL

The name needn't be Biblical, but it should be the name of a saint or blessed- or a virtue ( Like HOPE or CHARITY or FAITH), or a derivative, or the feminine version of a male name...such as Stephanie for Stephen.
There are many wonderful acceptable Christian names out there! Persinally, I caution against unusual names. One year I had three students who had names that sounded the same, but not ONE was pronounced as it was spelled, and they were all three different spellings. They all hated it, too.

Not at all true! I went to Catholic school when I was younger and they drilled into us that anyone can be baptized because the church is accepting of all people... I don't know how much I believe that second part, but long story short, regardless of name, anyone is welcome to be baptized
