A problem with heating it up in the microwave vs the stovetop is that the formula may not be all the same temperature. It is like when you microwave left overs - sometimes the outside is super hot while the middle seems as if it hasn't been heated up yet.
Using the stove allows for the formula to have a uniform temperature through out. Just allows for the infant to not get one sip of hot formula and another one of cold formula.

When you heat up the formula in the microwave, it kills the nutrients (all the good things) in the milk. I asked my pediatrician the same question and that is what she told me. An alternative which takes a little bit longer but is better, when you want to prepare the formula all at once. Is to heat the bottle under hot water. It warms it just like the microwave minus killing off the nutrients. Hope this helps you. Have a great day!!!

ok I really have finished it too. i realized later that's incorrect because the microwave breaks down the fatty cells contained in the milk making it a lot less sensible on your toddlers wholesome intake of fat. So, provided that expertise I nonetheless did it when I discovered out yet in simple terms even as i replaced into in a hurry. I in simple terms did not make a habit of it. Edit: forgot to characteristic that microwaving heats drinks erratically, so there will be a very warm spot contained in the milk bottle which will scald the infant even although you try it on your wrist it may no longer sense that way, notwithstanding that's a pretend analyzing. could shake realy properly and under no circumstances overheat.

They say not to do that because microwaves makes the bottom of the bottle hotter than the top. So if you would test the fomula on your wrist, it would feel comfortable, even though the rest of the formula would be hot. If you shake the bottle enough after you heated,it would probably even itself out, but why take the risk. I just use warm water from the faucet. No heating required there!

I have read it destroys the nutrients in the formula. It is also dangerous as it can cause "hotspots" in the bottle and possibly burn the baby. Microwaves do not heat evenly. You can buy a convenient bottle warmer that heats the bottle to the ideal temperature without using a microwave, thus much safer. Also, the bottle warmer will not affect the nutrients in the formula.

they say not to because the formula can be hotter in different spots. I always heated formula in the microwave. just make sure it isnt too hot, and shake it up alot to even out the hot spots. I did this with both of my kids.

I've heated my formulas in the microwave...I've had no problems. (But hot spots are a concern for sure; if you aren't careful about the heat level and precise timing.) However; heating breastmilk in the microwave takes nutrients away from it. To be completely sure; just use a bottle warmer; thats what I use.

the microwave tends to cause scaldingly hot hot spots to develop in the formula which can badly burn babies mouth. That being said, I warm my children's bottles in the microwave, shaking the bottle vigorously for a minute or so breaks up any hot spots that may have formed. Always check the temperature of formula before feeding your child however, no matter how you warm the bottle.

the milk can have hot spots and might burn the baby. you can prepare the formula in advance and store it in the fridge. then you just need to heat it up when you need it, use boiling water in a jug - it only takes bout 5 mins to heat.

A microwave can heat the bottles unevenly....you can get hot spots...I used to heat them up in the microwave though only for 30 seconds and then shake it up really really well to even out the temperature.
