New Notebook Hard Drive?

Question

Now, I understand that I will have to reinstall windows and such. Also, I have the recovery disks and know how to reinstall

However

1) After plugging in the new hard drive, do i turn it on, and put the recovery disks in?

2) In my last question, someone said that I would need to format it and set a number of partitions.

for #2, I do not clearly understand what the means. please help. i need my laptop up and running soon =[

Just put the restore disk in and make sure to boot to CDROM, then tell it to wipe and reinstall, it will take care of everything for you.

With most new hard drives, they'll have a disc that you'll also have to load. It may/may not be part of your recovery disks, but you'll have to do that first. It'll walk you through the partitioning, etc. so you won't need to worry about that. After the hard drive is installed, the recovery disks will help to reinstall everything else (i.e. drivers, Windows).

Your reinstallation disks will do the partitions and formatting. Just turn it on and follow the directions. You may want to turn it on long enough to put in the first cd close the cd rom and turn it off Then turn it back on with the cd in the tray already

The install disk will detect the new hard drive and walk you through partitioning and reformatting. Some people like to make the drive two partitions so they can store stuff on one of them or install two operating systems. If you do that, the new drive will be divided into C and D drives.

Start your note book up place the first disk in and follow directions
