Haha =) Yeahh, could be either or =p Friend owns a dell XPS and one day, power just suddenly stopped going to the battery either. Norm
ally its a bad battery, however in his case it was the ADAPTER :\

Also, laptops arent meant for hardocre anything. And youre not supposed to use them all the time.. Its not like they can't overheat! =D Thats the #1 shutdown failure

If the laptop works ok with the power adapter plugged in, it's just a bad battery. You should take the battery out when you're going to store the laptop for a long time. The computer draws a little current from it to keep the internal setup battery charged, and will ruin it eventually.

I would first check all the connections (i.e. power outlet, if it's on a power strip check that, most bricks have 2 pieces so make sure both parts are secured firmly, and finally make sure it's firmly in the laptop). If there is still is no power, the try removing the battery pack in the laptop and putting it back in. If still no power, then it's time to replace it.

I would target the power adapter (the power brick) which is along the cord and downgrades the electricity to a proper level.

See if that is the source of the problem. Most likely, your battery is fine.
