posted a short humorous story in which the only rude word I used was... wait for it ...."thingy".

Yahoo deleted it. [The story, not the thingy ], Boo Hoo.

Once "thingy" is a no-no word, then surely every word is a no-no word? Or maybe I'm just being picked on ?

I certainly agree that Yahoo Administrators should show a bit more sense in what they delete and what they allow. We all know there are total drunks, hooligans and idiots (etc.) in any community, and Yahoo is no different. When Yahoo get an abuse report which makes an utterly idiotic complaint of this sort Yahoo Administrators should just ignore it. If idiots are pampered to as if they are intelligent humans it just encourages them behave even more inanely in future, and that clearly brings the whole Yahoo organisation into serious disrepute!

Someone must have reported it for some silly reason. Reports mean pretty automatic deletions.

Well, it's a question and answers site, so they delete things that are not 'proper questions'. Especially if some humourless type reports you!

I would not take to much offence at it their police do not even know a question from an answer.
