This was through a window that had blinds on it. If I had been smart, I would have opened the blinds to see if it went away. Over the course of a couple of hours (9-11am), it travelled East across my ceiling.

I actually produced one myself on my ceiling the other day. The sun was coming in through my dining room windown, and I took a CD and layed it on my computer desk. The sun refracted and reflected off the CD, and made a colorful "rainbow" on my ceiling.

Whatever caused it in your room (CD, mirror...), just refracted (bent) and reflected the light, causing it to make an array of colors.

I have a small Crystal hanging from an open blind in my kitchen. When the sun hits it, it produces beautiful rainbows all over the walls and ceiling.
There must be some reflective object near your window to catch the light.

It isn't a rainbow. It is a spectrum caused by the separation of white light into its colours by some form of prism. A flaw in the glass of the window or a glass ornament hear the window would be sufficient.

some kind of reflection would have to be in between the window or in front of the window so that the rainbow would hit the mirror or CD and go against the wall. or the rainbow could just shine through the window.

Light shining through a prism. It could have been shining through a chrystal, or even a glass of water and been reflected onto your ceiling. Even the small amount of light that I saw seeping through your blind would be enough if it hit something just right.

the light travels through this object and gets dispersed into its composite 7 colours when it emerges the object

there must've been a lot of moisture in the air. The droplets of water act as a prism and sperates the sunlight into all of its colors.

the water droplets act like prisms and when the light shines through them they separate it into the full spectrum or a rainbow
