Shopping at Hot Topic does not make you a goth. I know some tanguerras [women tango dancers] who buy things there.

A consequence of the natural human need to belong is that we categorize. A lot. And people pick up on cues. If their perception of Hot Topic is that it's goth than of course they'll put you "over there" with the "goths." Bottom line: They generalize because it's easy, and people who just do that don't deserve friends.

People are narrow minded and don't like a variety of things. I think Hot Topic has some great stuff... they have cute tops and great accessories just like Walmart and target. Just keep shopping where you want to shop and at least you wont be wearing the same crap everyone else is wearing because there's nothing more annoying than getting to school and seeing everyone with your outfit on.

well first of all, if you worry about what people think all the time then you are letting people run your life; and just think of it thins way hot topic plays better music than A&F wich sounds like a night club on crack. and when people affect you that much that you stop shopping at the stores you like then you are no longer your own person; you have become one of the many sheep in the world who live for statis that will get them no where when they finnally leave there parents house.

i go to hot topic and buy pins for my purse and jewelry and not goth at all i think most people think that because the way it looks from the outside and it could have something to do with the people who work there and the music.

and she along with many other people is just ignorant. dont worry about it. and tell the brat that abercrombie doesnt even sell earrings. they sell shirts that look the same. with moose emblems on them. and keep shopping at hot topic, u probably dress better than her anyways.

who cares??? shop where u want, wear what u want!!! i shop at hot topic on a regular basis, it`s one of the only stores in the mall i`ll even buy clothes at, & i`m not goth...people are just accustomed to generalizing & stereotyping everything & it`s stupid!!!

My 14 year old Grand Daughter loves this store. Although, most of the 'stuff' they sell is Black, so what she knows, how to 'hook' herself up. She is not a freak, and she does not always wear black.
