I am not King Arthur from Monty Python and the Holy Grail so I can not answer that question. Good thing you said it was European because I was going to have my answer be "What do you mean, Is it an african swallow or a European swallow?"

This site shows all the physics involved in calculating the speed of a European sparrow. The range given is 8-11 meters per second, with a single answer (given in bold) of 11 meters per second. Makes interesting reading, too.
