The right thing to do is to stand up for that person (you would want them to do that for you) but we are ofter tempted and pressured to join in on the teasing. Some people like to sit back and watch so they dont get in trouble by being a teaser or become the teasee(one being teased). Do what you feel is right. If the teasing gets out of hand, or someone gets hurt, seek help immeadiatley. (sp?)

Do something about it. I guess that depends on what age we are talking about. I'm a teacher so I tell my students to tell another teacher about it. If I see it at school, I definitely do something about it myself. I tell my students to not participate in such bullying (remember what it feels like when you get bullied or picked on).
As an adult, I will usually step in or ignore it. If its a friend getting treated wrongly by a spouse/partner then I do my best to offer advise. But, I can't make the person (Adult) being bullied do anything they don't want to do. They have to get fed up with it before anything will change.
I was married to a mentally and emotionally abusive man for 6 years my friends and family were always telling me I had to get out and leave him. I'd never gave up on anything until I knew I had done my best, and that's what it came down to. I did finally leave but it took ME being fed up and not everyone else. But the day I asked for the divorce I did tell him I wish just once he would have hit me, because then I could have left sooner!! That knocked him for a loop and gave him an idea of just how cruel his words were. It took a long time to get through the recovery process of all the damage he did to my soul so to speak.

I step in and defend the person! I was often teased as a small child and it was very traumatic, I hate it when I hear other people being teased.

I would definately defend the person getting picked on. If I didn't it would be on my mind that I hadn't helped that person, and I would feel really guilty. And if it was the other way round, and you were the one getting picked on you'd want someone to help you instead of just watching from the sidelines. I think that if I didn't defend that person I'd be as bad as the person picking on them.

Everyone is a person with emotions. You never know--someone could be suicidal and the teasing could be a trigger for them. The thing that will make you fel strong and posibly save a life is saying, "That's sooo mean." BE STRONG. BE HUMANE. DO WHATS RIGHT.
