What's a "T/FA force"? Only thing I can do is ignore the "T/FA". So you're saying any force applied always makes a torque about an axis through the center of mass of the object.?

Not so. If the direction of the force is exactly on-line with the center of mass of the object, it will just push it, not turn it.
