Having a linea nigra (dark pregnancy line) under my navel doesn't mean I'm pregnant does it? I'm just now seeing this line and it's very dark? please tell me what's going on (I am sexually active)

It is caused by pregnancy hormones that increase production of the pigment melanin, also known as hyperpigmentation.
It is most definately a sign of pregnancy.

Some women get it during the second trimester of pregnancy and it usually gets lighter or goes away 3 months after delivery. I developed it during all of my pregnancies, the line extended from above my navel to my pubic area, during pregnancy but after 3 months after I gave birth it was only visual from below my navel to my pubic area and it has got lighter but it's still noticeable and my last child is 3yrs. old. Could you be pregnant? Or did you already gave birth, because if you have it's normal for the line to still be there. If you think that you are pregnant please go and see your doctor to get prenatal care even if you are scared you need to take care of your self to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. My friend hid her pregnancy when she became pregnant at 17 yr.old because she was scared, luckily she gave birth to a healthy baby, but the baby had to stay in the hospital because he had a little trouble with breathing but he's doing well now at 13yrs.old , but her parents didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor and they were extremely furious, only because she didn't tell them, not because she made a mistake.

Well, by the time that line appears, you would be very pregnant, so you would be able to rule it out.
You should see a doctor to rule out hormone imbalances.

I noticed mine at 16 weeks 3 days.

I don't think it appears until later in pregnancy. I can't imagine, unless you know you're pg that thats what it is. I'm 34 weeks pg and just now starting to see mine.

Estrogen levels in abundance cause that line. Either you're pregnant or hormonal

My daughters have it and they have never had a boyfriend. I got it when I had a cyst on my ovary. Obviously, it is not always a pregnancy sign.

i had that when i was pregnant with my son and i was 19. so yes it is a sign that your pregnant since you only get it when you are.. mine went away after my son was born.
