the Oil is pzl 5w30 Bulk by walmart, is it normal to burn that much oil or is it a sign that i should be concerned?

can i prevent it by putting in better quality oil like high mileage oil?

The car is a Nissan Altima 2000 with 195,000 KM

with that kind of mileage you should try10-30 castrol, maybe 10-40 for summer.

1 quart every 5000km is perfectly normal for an engine that age. Different oil won't make any difference. It might be a good idea to go to 10W30 for that old motor. And not that walmart junk. Good cleaners and additives are more important than ever for an older engine.

Since it's a closed system, if you are a half quart low after that time period you have a slight leak, or you are burning oil.
