Rubbing compound is probably your only hope. For tips, try Autopia.org. I've seen some before & afters of people working on some pretty bad paint jobs and they turned out nicely. It will require some work though. But under no circumstances should you spray clear coat over already bad paint....

If the paint is dull try a rubbing compound. It can be found at auto parts stores or auto paint stores. Try it out on a spot that isn't too noticeable and see what it can do. I've seen some badly oxidized paint jobs and they looked brand new when they were done. Good luck

Thats just a waste of more money. If the paint is bad whatever you put on top be it clear or even a color will make it look worse. Each additional coat of paint or clear only amplifies whats below it. That is why proper prep is so important to a good paint job.

NO, clearcoat will NOT cure the problem. To make it simple, and a cheap way, wet sanding is the best bet. You can get wet sanding tips on the net as to show you how to do it. Good Luck!!

If the paint is that bad your friend will have to live with it , or save money to have it properly done . You can try rubbing compound then a polishing compound after that it might help .but you did say it felt like sanpaper rough.

I can't believe this is happening. Why should history be changed to support white people when we have committed atrocities. The truth is the truth. And for the people calling you ignorant it is obvious that they are the ignorant ones. Name calling does not solve issues. And americans who celebrate cinco de mayo it is their choice to celebrate we are free american, are we not? And why would you argue that we shouldn't teach Mexico's history in America, if you hadn't notice Mexico is right there, they tie to our own history. And why would American children not be free to learn about the history of not only america, but of Mexico, and Canada and all the countries in the world. Knowledge is power. And when you shut out knowledge the only place to go is down.
