Back in the day of the original six, Canadians were either Hab fans or Leaf fans. Many of those people along with their children/grandchildren etc stuck with them. Your team sucking is no reason to desert them.

As a Wings fan, from back when they were the "Dead Things", I would say because people in Toronto, love the game, and live by the Leafs. As an American, I can respect anyone, that still supports their teams, through some bad times, and doesnt just love them when they are winning. Jusr for the sake of nostalgia, i wish the Leafs would get better, I couldnt think of anything better to watch, than a Stanley Cup Final, of Wings ans Leafs, ya know?

It's called being a real fan. It's loyalty to the team you've followed and cheared for since you can remember hearing the word hockey. If you just follow a team only when they are winning, thats called being a bandwagon fan, a front-runner and fair weather fan. And the more haters out there who make fun of us because out loyalty to a team that wasn't won it all in 40 years, we more we know that they just don't get it. They never will. But that's okay. They don't have to. We love 'em even if they break our hearts. GO LEAFS GO!

Because for better or worse they are the Maple Leafs. They have a long and proud history. They one of the original teams and they are Canadian. Who do you think Toronto fans should like? The Tampa Bay Lightning? Hockey shouldn't be allowed in the south.

Because the Leafs are in T.O. Even if they managed to lose every single game, they would still put bums in seats. Every corporate head office has to provide wholesome entertaiment to clients and staff etc. so it's the Leafs. What would people think if the RBC or Air Canada gave them Toronto Rock or WWE tickets?-not that I have anything against lacrosse or 'rassling. The Raptors are an option; but if it comes to a choice between hockey and hoops, a Canadian corporation is probably going to go with hockey.

Well my friend. I have bled blue since the day i was born. I stand behind my beloved Leafs through thick and thin. If they play bad I get pi**ed, if they play great i'm wound up. Leaf fans don't bail on "their" team during the bad times. We ain't no agon jumpers dude.
Lemme ask you this. Would you bail out on your kids if their hockey team didnt make the playoff???
Sum it up in one word...LOYALTY!!!
Leafs 3 - Habs 1

Tradition, History, etc... I am a dedicated Bruins fan and I am fully aware that they will continue to suck until Jeremy Jacobs sells the team, but I love the game and for some reason can't change colors.

Loyalty + heritage. Real fans stick with "their" team through the good and the bad . . . versus bandwagon fans who just jump on the newest and greatest thing.

What else is there to do in Toronto? They were a cool team to watch in the early 90's-not anymore.
