Demagnetizing materials
Permanent magnets can be demagnetized in the following ways:
Heating a magnet past its Curie point will destroy the long range ordering.
Contact through stroking one magnet with another in random fashion will demagnetize the magnet being stroked, in some cases; some materials have a very high coercive field and cannot be demagnetized with other permanent magnets.
Hammering or jarring will destroy the long range ordering within the magnet.
A magnet being placed in a solenoid which has an alternating current being passed through it will have its long range ordering disrupted, in much the same way that direct current can cause ordering.
In an electromagnet which uses a soft iron core, ceasing the flow of current will eliminate the magnetic field. However, a slight field may remain in the core material as a result of hysteresis.

Demagneticing can be done by many procedures -
1. By heating or applying pressure
2. By self demagnatisation - A magnet's strenght gets reduced naturally but it is avery slow process
3. By passing AC current through a solenoid that is wound around the magnet which is held in the East West direction.
This is the most efficient method of demagnetising.

Magnetism in a material relates to the orientation of the electron spin inside an atomic structure.
If we induce radiative energy into a magnet ,like heat radiation , the atomic alignment will change. Therefore ,to demagnetize a substance the core of that substance must be heated at a certain critical temperature. At that point the substance (steel) wil be demagnetized. For that reason the core of the Earth if its true that it exists at high temperature ,it could not produce a magnetic field.
Another method would be to exposed the substance in a chaging electric current(AC current). That would definitely demagnetize a magnetic substance.

The factors can affect a magnet's strength:
Heat
Radiation
Strong electrical currents in close proximity to the magnet
Other magnets in close proximity to the magnet
(Neo magnets will corrode in high humidity environments unless they have a protective coating.)
Shock and vibration do not affect modern magnet materials, unless sufficient to physically damage the material.

Heat and impact in sufficient quantities can randomize the orientation of the metal crystals and thus demagnetize the magnet.

Hold it in front of your monitor and hit the degauss button several times.
Then go buy a new monitor.
