Absolutely not. The democrats are doing exactly what they are supposed to as an opposition party to the president. The republicans are doing exactly what they are supposed to by trying to stonewall their objectives. The republicans are now doing what the democrats did last congress. Thinking that just because democrats oppose Bush means that they are traitors is wrong. The founders meant for the branches to check and balance each other, not letting any one do too much. Bush has had basically free reign with executive power for 6 years, and he's finally getting questioned and opposed and will have to compromise. This is very refreshing, in my opinion, even if I don't agree with everything the democrats do.

Yes! Sedition for sure! I'd say they were shy of treason but then I'm not real knowledgeable about the political details of their actions. I know they are certainly acting like traitors and when I looked the definition up on Googel it mentioned the death penalty which would explain why they are against it!

Treason, sedition mean disloyalty or treachery to one's country or its government. Treason is any attempt to overthrow the government or impair the well-being of a state to which one owes allegiance; the crime of giving aid or comfort to the enemies of one's government. Sedition is any act, writing, speech, etc., directed unlawfully against state authority, the government, or constitution, or calculated to bring it into contempt or to incite others to hostility, ill will or disaffection; it does not amount to treason and therefore is not a capital offense.

Food for thought.

There is very little evidence to promote that idea.

But your Commander and Chief on the other hand has publicly committed Treason Sedition and Conspired to take America into a fraudulent War to exact a Family Vendetta.

I'm pretty sure treason is betraying your country.

For example, if a Vice President awarded reconstruction contracts to a company he once ran which then fleeced the American taxpayer before moving its headquarters to Dubai that would probably be treason. Or if, for example, that same Vice President orchestrated a plan to leak the name of an active covert CIA agent and risk her life that'd probably be treason too.

Or let's say the President, in a time of war, buries future generations in trillions of dollars in debt to finance tax cuts for corrupt CEOs who rip off taxpayers and shareholders before leaving the country for the Middle East, that might be treason. But if not, I'm sure he could always sweep environmental problems under the rug for future generations and use the power of his office to politicize criminal investigations, while being indifferent to the deaths of thousands of US troops until his friends lose an election...

Yes, I know the definitions, and no doubt we have political pigs on both sides of the asile committing them. But don't expect anyone to be charged. They stopped enforcing those laws long, long ago. If they never charged Jane Fonda, a private citizen who made propaganda broadcasts from North Vietnam back when that war was still hot, they aren't about to charge someone like Nancy Pelosi, who holds the third highest office in the land (she's third in line for the presidency, right behind Dick Cheney) for going to a country we aren't even at war with (at least not yet, anyway).

Yes, I do:
Treason: 1 : the betrayal of a trust : TREACHERY
2 : the offense of attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

and I think that President Bush has committed the first definition.

Sedition: attempting by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the sovereign or the sovereign's family

I suppose you would pigeonhole me as a "liberal", but I assure you that neither I nor any of my pinko, bleeding-heart liberal friends have any plan or desire to attempt by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance or to kill or personally injure the president or the president's family
or
to attempt by overt acts to overthrow the government of the state to which the offender owes allegiance.

I have, in fact, served my country in the USMC for four years, one of which was in Vietnam. And I am highly offended by your inference that "liberals" who disagree with the present administration's foreign policy are thereby guilty of treason and sedition.
Thank God that here in the USA we still have freedom of speech (and thought) and can differ peacefully with whatever administration is in power (which makes me wonder - did you, by and chance, differ with the Clinton administration's policies?)

It is a very good question: what is happening ?

treason = A betrayal of trust or confidence.

sedition = Insurrection; rebellion.

Betrayal is what Bush administration did to us: by telling us we're looking for Osama, then going in Iraq because of Saddam and then because there are weapons of mass destruction, when there were none. He betrayed us.

Now, the population, rebelled against Bush's administration because of lying to us and sending 3200 of our men to their deaths.

Its a matter of interpretation. Being that most of them are going against the stated agenda that the president has laid out yes.

You're right. Let's arrest them all and declare martial law. Then we'll all be safe. Have you heard of George Orwell?
