Most guys are jerks and end up breaking up with you or you breaking up with them. I dont think you wanna get married to him! Save your friendships, they will last longer. Ask your friend how she really feels about it. Ask her what she wants you to do. Make sure she is honest. I could also go another way on this. Your friend should want you to be happy. So if happy means going out with some boy for you and she isn't really ok with it then she isn't a true friend.
I lean more on the first answer!

I lost a very good friend once by dating a guy she liked. He turned out to be an asshole, the relationship was over pretty quick, and my friendship with this girl was ruined forever. No guy is worth losing your best friend.

You shouldn't feel bad. His is entittled to his preferences and so are you. This might be a test of your friendship. If you lose a friend over this issue it will speak to her maturity. On the other hand, don't keep bringing it up! That would be mean.

You have a mind of your own. Why do you feel that you need your friends approval on this? After all, you are the one dating the guy. Maybe she's just jealous because she liked him too, or maybe she feels that being with him will take your time from her. Either way she needs to get over it.

Would you rather your friend had the guy instead of you? That's probably what will happen if you stay away from the guy.
Why don't you try all three of you hanging out together & see what happens?

It's not ok with your friend, she's saying that to be nice. If you want to keep your friend, drop the guy.
