Usually on a computer, on standby, the computer's fans and everything shuts down, as if the computer is off. for some reason on my comp, it just turns the screen off but the lightsd and everything else is still on. why and can i fix it?

Control Panel / Power options.
If this does not work, then you will have to look in the bios.
To get into the bios, you usually hit tab or delete when the opening screen comes up. From there, look around for power options.

First off unless you hit the standby button then it isn't in standby. But if you have you screen saver on for let say 5 minutes and it pops up then all you need to do is go to your properties and change the timing on your screensaver, because your fans and everything will still run. Check it out and make sure.

when you click on standby it will look as if the computer is off the thing will not be making any sound no fans nothing that is ok and when you press the power button it will restart and your not have to wait for the computer to load up the computer will be at the login screen if you just put the monitor off then your computer is not in standby mode

I have the same thing and its not a problem. The power light on the pc of mine justs blinks when it is in standby. And the moniter light turns from green(on) to yellow(on, but pc isn't on or is in standy/off/hib. mode).
Its normal for a comp. to do that and you can't fix it. When in standby just turn the screen off when the light is yellow.

first of all except you hit the standby button then it isn't in standby. yet once you've you ever show saver on for enable say 5 minutes and it pops up then all you want to do is go on your homes and adjust the timing on your screensaver, because your followers and each and everything will nonetheless run. verify it out and be sure.

On standby it does not shut down, it just goes to power saving mode.
On hibernate it shuts down fully.

it doesn't.
if you want to turn off your computer yet still be able to resume...
use hibernate instead of standby.

This happened to me on my old pc. Sometimes the fan would run and sometimes it won't.
