I have some packaging needs that would best be served by those flat thread spools that come with small sewing kits. The cardboard piece is often shaped similar to a dog bone, where the sides are big and the center is more narrow. The thread wraps around the narrow center. Where can I purchase these "spools" in bulk? Even a good place to have them custom made would be considerable.

I went on a Tudor version of those and have been given instructed off for treason, fortunately i grow to be spared the shares, as all of them looked slightly mentally risky.

Why not make your own? Use shirt cardboard or the backs from notepads.
