I am going to a friends house for easter dinner because my family isn't doing anything until Monday when the rest of the family comes back into town. I asked what i could bring and she said nothing. And they have everything they need, breads, side dishes, dessert so now what do i take? I hate to go empty handed???

Take an appetizer-a cheese ball and crackers would be good.

Take something that you don't have to cook and that they can use later if they don't want to put it out with the rest. Some cooks have everything planned out and don't want people to bring anything. Sometimes when they tell me not to bring anything they mean it. One friend use to take this certain dish that the host hated so she told us both not to bring anything because she didn't want that dish to appear.

Reading the other suggestions above. You have to know the people. If they have allergies you don't bring a lily. If they can't eat nuts or dairy you will not want to take the cheese. If someone can't have seeds the wrong desert can be fatal. Some can't eat sugar, some can't have NutraSweet. Maybe they told you not to bring anything because they want control of what is there. If all else fails you can take some deviled eggs, except for the people with heart trouble most will be able to eat them. I hang out with lots of old people, can't you tell?

Don't take those strawberries!! You can take a non-alcoholic type wine. I like the Welch's Red myself.

My first inclination is to say take your appetite!

How about some flowers for the table. Nice fresh flowers. Or flowers growing in a pot, something they can keep longer!

Some rabincal wine for those who want to remember Jesus when they eat and drink.

Something unusal and mediteranian like Halvah or Baklavah.

Put your thinking cap on for a unique pre-meal muchie.

you might take a bottle of GOOD wine. Can't go wrong unless they don't drink. But a good desert won't hurt. As strawberry's are in season. A Strawberry pie would knock over. yummmmm
