I'm about 37 weeks pregnant and 4 cm or more dilated. Contractions frontal and back come on and go in no particualr pattern. The baby has dropped and in position. Mucous plug seemed to have come out (Lot of Whitish thick mucous) but water has not broken and getting really strong pressure on my cervix just recently. Is this far into labor or just the begining of it?

This is my first child and the contractions are irregular and far apart. They can also vary in strength. They are far from being 3 to 5 minutes apart though.

i would say your about half way along, keep in mind that the water doesnt always break,,,,, nor do some women have strong contractions before right near the end,,,,,,, see your doctor or go to the hospital, if you havent,,,, especially if the plug has come out, you will need to be monitored, as if it goes on too long, infection can set in

I would start keeping tract of your contractions if they are regular and are about 3-5 mins. apart I would be calling your doctor....how much pain are you in......contractions when you are in the middle of labor are so strong that you can't talk during them.......if they are getting close to this go to the hospital!.......most women's water breaks in the hospital not at home so don't rely on your water breaking...my doctor had to break my water for me........please call your doc..........Good Luck! and Congrats!

How far apart are the contractions? If they are 5 minutes or less, you should get to the hospital.

contractions, no plug, pressure on cervix, and dilated 4
you're fixing to have yourself a baby!
watch those pains and if they become more frequent ~ within 5-7 minutes apart...then you would need to go to the hospital
as of right now...get your stuff ready and then go for a walk, eat something spicy or if you up to it ~ one last quicky ~ and it should get things rolling along............
good luck, best wishes, and congrats!
(I bet you have an Easter baby!)

Just because your water hasn't broken that doesn't mean that you're not in "fullblown need to get to the hospital right now kinda labor!!!!"! My water never broke (both pregnancies the doctor had to break it for me right before each child was born) I'd call your doctor instead of asking us folks!! Good luck to both you, and your soon-to-be new addition!

is this your first child? then it can be a long process yet. You need to time your contractions first and see where you are at. I have had 5 children and learned each one is completely different.

4 means the ball is rolling. no stopping now. when you start spotting is a good time `to go. and when you cant talk through a contraction. see how you feel in the next 45 to an hour. your infor a good bit of pain. you will know when it is time to go. trust me

I would say you need to go to the doctor. Everyone is different and so is every baby. Your water doesn't always break... you should go to the hospital. Good Luck and Congrats!!

Some women's water doesnt break on its own and the doctor has to break it himself before pushing. Mine broke on its own though, just before contractions started.
