A man is a great human being when he lives in integrity, approaches life from a place of love and compassion and is always true to himself no matter how hard life gets.

Man is born without knowing how to think; if he learns enough of tha skill, he then still doesn't know what to think about anything.

So, the prioritized function--number one for man--is learning how to think and start using the capability, fast.

Each man is mentally separate, physically separate and value separate as an adult, once he/she has been educated in "how to think categorically" and has also experienced and practiced enough to be able to conduct his own creative life and affairs, apart from or with others.
This begins to happen at 22 1/2 but can't be completed until 45 years usually.

And each self is the responsible thinker-capitalist (investor of values) behind his own life's plan, form, reach and achievements.

So, we'd need to judge any man on three counts in order to rate his value and assess him as super-normative or "great", or not.

1. How good is he at realistic thinking: the scientific method, defining things by categorizing definitions, by their prioritized functional inner-workings, and not just by outward-appearance childish estimates?

2. How well he has integrated a map of the real in conceptual form, and placed within his thinking's picture (of reality and man-made reality) the science of what he specifically chooses to do in order to make a life for himself, part from and among others? (his life's work)

3.What has he accomplishes that required strategic
'vision', categorical knowledge, intellectual honest, love
of true beauty, justice toward men and honor in taking responsibility, correcting and improving continually, taking risks and evaluating and monitoring and expending results wisely?

The real question then is: Who is rich in wisdom, ability and result-making capacitiy?

If man's life islived for a purpose, so that he can comprehend, can attain mastery of knowledge and cretaive efforts, and can make first-rate results,
then any great man is anyone who does these things far better than other men can do them.

A hero is:"an unusually good doer of categorically valuable things". of course, any hero in the right situation can do something great. But to do something great, highly-perfected, super-normative, consistently is what is required for general greatness to be admitted in regard to a person.
