We have about 150 years of evidence to the contrary. Mountains and mountains and mountains of work in biochemistry, genetics, statistics, anthropology, botany, and other disciplines strongly and really, without serious questions or doubts by a qualified individual, supports evolution as indisputable fact.

In my experience "opponents" of evolution have utterly no training in science.

Shrink, laws of thermodynamics have little to do with evolution. For example, using entropy, in a living system, once life has ceased, will decay quickly in a short period of time.

Evolution is not a religion, pure, and, simple.

Shrink, her discipline has nothing to do with evolution.

Shrink as for matter not being destroyed again, that is fine, but, does not support or dismiss in any way evolution, just means, that living things use energy in various forms and once "dead", the energy takes on a different manifestation, that's all.

It would get hand cramps trying to properly discuss this topic, but in short, one problem is that the theory itself contradicts many religious teachings. If one were totally to accept the theory of evolution as a whole, they would also be questioning their own faith and religious teachings.

I wouldn't quite say fact. Technically theres no way to prove or disprove intelligent design. This is the major problem with it though because its just as likely that the universe was created by a flying spaghetti monster. The ones arguing for intelligent design will admit that evolution happens within species, but won't create the multitude of different animals in the earth. So the proponents don't completely ignore the evidence. Evolution is the best, and really the only viable, scientific theory we have. You still can only find evidence of it though, because scientists have not had the time to prove it categorically, and even when they do find more indisputable evidence, people who have extreme faith in the bible may accept it, but then fit a new intelligent design theory to the evidence - not disprovable but not scientific. They believe very strongly in creation, and don't want others to attack that belief. I don't have a problem with believing those theories, or even teaching them, but as they aren't scientific, I do have a problem when they're being forced into science classes.

wow, sometimes i don't like getting into a question late and sometimes it's very educational.

the creationist cons out here would have you believe that gravity is not fact but theory and they would be right.

scientific theory and the advancements that come with it are generated by creating hypothesis and then asking more questions about it.

while it's true that things are rarely ever proven 100%, the world we live in that is the result of that process is proof enough for me that it works.

evolution is a valid and reinforced theory, just like gravity.

remember that these same people were the ones who wanted to try galileo for suggesting that the earth revolved around the sun and was not the center of the universe.

the 'church' would not recognize this basic fact of existence until well into the 1800's.

these are the people who now want to say that they have the credibility to suggest that their phony, made up, fairy tale is 'science.'

it took over 100 years before darwin's theory got enough credibility that it was widely taught in schools.

tell you what, keep it up and in 100 years you can teach your unprovable intelligent design in classes if it ever gets any scientific peer review.

this isn't about science or theory or even religion - the religios are the original controllers - they just want power and control over our lives.

No, only the reactionary Fundamentalists believe evolution did not happen, and that's because they don't understand that science has advanced far beyond what the guy who wrote Genesis knew.

As for the theory of evolution contradicting religious teachings, it's funny, but the largest Chrisitan sect, the Roman Catholic Church, doesn't seem to have a problem with evolution being a viable theory.

I think evolution on a small scale has occured. This is proven scientifically. I dont really think the big bang occured and water evolved into bacteria, which evolved into fish, etc, etc. But life does adapt, whether due to weather, geographical or predator conditions. Obviously the large scale evolution theory is just that, a theory, not sos much evidence. But small scale evolution is as you said, indisputable.

I don't believe that we, man came from apes or some 'life form' that accidentily washed ashore. That's ridiculous to believe that something as complex as life was an accident. Even the lowest forms of life have a purpose and function as no machine could.

If we evolved, say, from apes, why are apes still in existence? Definition of evolution: The change in the genetic make-up of a population of organisms over time. This process of change is driven by natural selection.

I believe that species evolve, life evolves, the planet evolves to survive.

Scientists are constantly changing their theories, whereas the Bible stays the same.

In fact, Science proved that humans began exactly where Genesis pinpoints the Garden of Eden. Mitochondrial Eve. Anti-creationists haven't been able to accept that piece of Science.

that's not a Conservative difficulty. that's like asking do Liberals have self assurance in evolution. that's more suitable a non secular question. Christian Fundamentalists do. some Fundamentalists are Liberals.

I've asked the same question. And the answers I've gotten were truly frustrating.
One man actually told me that "Fossils aren't real, they're just a conspiracy made up by scientist for the purpose of thwarting God." He actually claimed that fossils aren't real. WTF!
Like it or not people, micro evolution is a proven fact. Macro evolution is a theory because it occurs over such a large time scale that it is impossible for a single person to observe. However, I have no doubt that when scientist, a thousand years from now, compare data from today, they will see that macro evolution exist as well.

I didn't know that my fellow Conservatives disregard Darwin and the theory of evolution...Even the Bible thumpers should be OK with evolution - the Pope said it was OK to believe in it back in the late 90's...

My only evidence is in the Eyes of my three children. They all grown up now? But still the fact is there. I'm not worthy to have these as my Children. But God saw that I should. And I don't give him, nearly the Praise that I should. But He & I have this understanding. Thanks for asking, though. Have a Great Weekend!
