The first public school in America was established by Puritan settlers in 1635 in the home of Schoolmaster Philemon Pormont and was later moved to School Street.

I do agree with you, I hated school.

My kids like school now that I homeschool them. We learn about things we want to know about, we also, do have to cover the boring stuff as well. Field trips are fun, and even better when you can take a vacation to the place you are learning about. Civil War stuff isn't actually boring to me now, especially when you can see where they fought.

When you are studying about some of the boring stuff, pick something about it you are wondering about, and look it up.
Like maybe the clothes they wore, or what they used as makeup. (Quite a bit of the makeup had toxic ingredients.)
It can help you remember some of the boring stuff.

I am definitely with you on the useless and boring part!!

You are probably too young to realize this, but most of the things you are taught in school are designed to teach the thinking process, not memorize the facts. You can always look up the facts, but you have to know how to think on your own.

Of course, there are things you have to memorize. You'll also have to memorize few things as the theory behind them are too complex. (you don't want the theory behind gravity.... or electrostatic attractions)

Schools aren't invented. It evolved from informal gathering of people learning from each other.
