There a lot to answer.
Just read here for a start; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thoroughbred_horse
I had a Thoroughbred and the Race papers to prove it, though she was never raced. She seemed to require a different diet than the Quarter Horse as she more High Strung. Loved to cut loose and fly with the wind. We live in Arkansas and the Horse did well with our climate. But, winter seemed a little cold more to her than the other horses, but, she had a nice shed and blanket. As far as mating rituals the female go into season and the male go through the fence. Female seemed very receptive to male. The Quarter Horse she wanted to be the Top Dog and kick toward the Studs when they come after her, but, with a little foreplay she too do what come natural.
We had a personal shed for each horse, blankets and whatever they needed, food and fresh water daily. Try to have a good shade tree for each horse. Two or more horses and the Dominate horse may hog the shade.

There is not particular climate that is preferred that we know of the Thoroughbred originated from the Arabian horses . Mating rituals ? The mare comes in season and the stallion mounts her and breds her there is no ritual. When in the wild there may be chasing squealing kicking if you want you could call it a ritual. Us ally when a male smells the mare and she's in she'll accept him without a fuss,if not she may kick squeal or run from him until she's ready. As to what country I'm not sure.
The Thoroughbred is believed to have started in the 17th century in England but i think that's when they started racing them do some research on throroughbred and find out.
