Actually i tink u can stay longer than 90days but u'll need to apply before u leave the US.U can extend it to certain period of time.A friend of mine,US citizen has a bf in Australia,every 3mths she leaves Australia for New Zealand for about 1week then she re-enters Australia again.So i guess to be on the safe side,prolly best u visit nother country for a week or so.But if ure travellin within the EU, when u exit France,sometimes u dont get a stamp ,am not really sure how it works.But best if u apply for a longer period term than to dissapear every 3mths.Hope that helps!Cheers :)
