Hi, I have a question regarding birth control and sex. I am on Meliane and I just stopped taking them 2 days ago for a week, and I should get my period in 2 days. Would it be safe to have sex with my husband during the week im off the pills or should I wait for the next day I start my new pack? Thanks!

any time you are off the pill you should use some other form of birth control. i have been using spermicide foams and inserts for over a year now and they have worked just fine. go to the drug store and pick up a pack of them. better be safe than sorry.

okay even though you are on BC pills, they are not always effective. but if you are that worried about getting pregnant, use a condom during the week of your period and all throughout the month for that matter. i know a lot of people who got pregnant on the pill, shot, everything. just be safe and remember birth control is only 99.9% effective. there is always that small chance anything can happen.

As long as you've taken your pill correctly, you are protected through your placebo week (pill free week) just as you are when you're taking your active pills. The pill is around 99.7% effective. No need for other methods of birthcontrol during your period or pill free week, just as there isn't during the rest of the month unless it makes you more comfortable. There is no greater chance of pregnancy anytime during the month while on the pill.

if you take birth control pills as prescribed, they are supposed to prevent pregancy during the entire month, even during the week when you should be getting your period. Pills are not 100% effective so there is no guarantee, but they are pretty effective.

if you are supposed to get your period in 2 days, then you are passed your ovulation period so the chance of not gettng preggers is higher. But you never know, I would just use a condom is you dont want to get pregnant and don't use one if you are trying.

Hope this helps. :-)
