Hot water, viniger, food coloring???

for every cup of color you want

1 cup of warm water for every cup
2 tablespoons of viniger in every cup
and as many drops of food coloring that you want depending on the color you want we normally do 15 to 30 drops of color

If using food coloring, beware of the recipe for "purple" on the food colors box -- do a test egg or two. The last time I tried that when dyeing eggs with my niece and nephew, it came out a VERY STRANGE color... sort of like liver dog food! Ewwww... We all laughed ourselves silly (the world's ugliest Easter egg), but it was a really nasty color, and nothing like a pretty purple that your child might be expecting to see.

Of course, that was about 10 - 12 years ago, so they may have changed the color proportions since then.

I think all the recipees you got are ok. The most important for us are WHITE eggs, to get the colour we want.
