I don't want to scare you more than you already are, but that is a very concerning situation. What has your Dr. told you about it? At 35 weeks you are almost full term and I'm wondering why your Dr. hasn't done a C-section now. It's probably safer for the baby to be delivered now and only by C-section, than to wait. If I were in your situation, I would seek a second opinion, but since it's the weekend, I would go to the ER and demand the baby be delivered today. If one ER does not comply, then go to another. If the baby is delivered vaginally, the risk of strangulation is very high. Good Luck and please go to the ER now.

My first question is, how do you know the cord is around his neck? If it showed on an ultrasound or something and the doctor told you, I would think the doctor would have also told you if it was dangerous. So to ease your mind, call your doctor and ask him or her just to be sure. The cord is pretty long and with the baby moving all the time sometimes it happens. It isn't necessarily dangerous, but check with your doctor to be sure. Don't worry or you'll upset the baby. Best wishes.

You will be given a c-section if the cord is still there when you are ready to give birth. If the cord is loose, there is nothing to worry about. I would go back to the doctor often to have this checked. If your child was in danger, I would think they would perform an emergency c-section, seeing how far along you are.
Congrats on the new baby!!!!

It sounds pretty scary--but according to this site and many others, it's very common and not a big deal. And if your doctor isn't concerned, it will probably be okay. The baby does not breathe through the mouth and nose yet--you are still doing the breathing for him/her.
At 35 weeks, you're just about full term. It must be scary anticipating the birth of your child. Good luck.

My boy was born with the cord around his neck. It caused him no problems at all. The midwife just had to slip it over his head before he was born completely. It was only looped around once.

it can cause problems, but my son was born with his cord wrapped around his neck twice, he's a healthy 7 (8 in june) year old.but i'm sure that since the docs know this info (i figure that's how you know) they will keep a close eye on him. good luck.
