Most girls always say "I'm going out to see my girlfriends tonight."

You NEVER hear guys say "I'm hanging out with my boyfriends tonight."

Why is this so?

girlfriends/boyfriends are intimate. if i'm with my "girlfriend" I'm doing a bit more then having a beer..more like eating at the Y. So if my husband said he was going out with his boyfriend I would assume he was bending his trucker buddy over the pool table and sharing the love.

When I say that to my boyfriend, I think it is so that he doesn't feel excluded. If I said, "I am going out with my friends," it would imply that they are MY friends and not his. When he hears "girlfriends," he understands that it is a girls' night and nothing personal. He always says he is hanging out with the "guys" as opposed to "boyfriends" because he doesn't want to sound "gay."

Because of the American culture. It would sound kind of gay. For example in the US a female can kiss another female on the cheek, but guys wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. In some countries it's ok for a guy to kiss another guy.

Because thats always what gorls have called they're friends... and also girls (in most cases) have a stronger bond with girls than guys do to guys. So strong its like love, but in a none lyz way.

Because women are less affected by homophobia. If you are not a lesbian then saying girlfriend means girl friend. It is NOT however the same in reverse for men.

I say the gang... My best friends are a mix of genders....

Cause men are afraid of being thought of as low on the masculinity scale. Guys hang out with thier mates, girls hang out with their girfriends. Girls can refer to eachother as "girlfriend" in place of one's name as well. I guess it's true that being a girl is better than being a guy. Ha ha ha ha ha ha, ne ne ne ne ne ne.

Girls and boys are very different in so many ways. Girls are very disciplined and responsible. While guys are always acting so cool and sometimes mean. People are always different in so many ways. It's the peoples destiny to stay different and we should all accept it.
