It is no longer round. Must have gotten crushed by something. I can still wear it but would prefer to have it completely round. Would it be possible to heat it up in the oven and try to get it over a wooden dowel of the right diameter? I don't think I can use a hammer because it is somewhat delicate similar to scrollwork.
Sure would appreciate some advice on the best way to do it myself. TIA!

I would think that just getting it around the dowel without heating or pounding would restore the shape. Just start with a dowel that's slightly smaller than the ring and build it up with duct tape til it's the size you want, then slip the ring on.

Ideally, you would use a ring mandrel and a rawhide hammer. If you don't have these things, a wooden dowel or metal rod will work. You will need a hammer, but be sure to place a piece of leather or heavy fabric over the ring to protect the scrollwork. Only tap the ring with enough force to work it back into shape. You won't be able to get it perfect, but you should be able to make it a bit more comfortable to wear.

A strong friend could probably bend it back into a more circular shape for you.
