You may read accusations that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi violated a federal law known as the Logan Act when she traveled to Damascus to discuss Middle East diplomacy with Syrian President Bashar Assad.
The Logan Act, originally enacted in 1799 and amended in 1994, prohibits unauthorized U.S. citizens from interfering in relations between the United States and foreign governments. Despite numerous judicial references to the Act, the Congressional Research Service has discovered no prosecutions under the Logan Act in its more than 200 years of existence.
the U.S. Department of State has declared:
"The clear intent of this provision [Logan Act] is to prohibit unauthorized persons from intervening in disputes between the United States and foreign governments. Nothing in section 953 [Logan Act], however, would appear to restrict members of the Congress from engaging in discussions with foreign officials in pursuance of their legislative duties under the Constitution..."
The Logan Act was created in 1799, and reads as follows:
§ 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments
"Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both."
What you have not been hearing or choose not to hear, is how five Republicans — Reps. Frank Wolf, Robert Aderholt, Joseph Pitts, David Hobson, and Darrell Issa all visited Syria this week.
The excitement and overreaction to this visit is fueled by nothing more than right wing propaganda and Bush administration rhetoric.
A December World Public Opinion poll found that 75 percent of Americans — including 72 percent of Republicans and 81 percent of Democrats — support the Iraq Study Group’s recommendation for direct engagement with Iran and Syria. Polls for the Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg and the Washington Post found similarly high levels of support for engagement.

Nancy Pelosi is not a "helper" in any way, shape or form. She is an evil woman who is only hurting with her presence in Syria.

i think of that when the final six years, almost all of us could've been an progression over Denny Hastert - and Tom delay (who replaced into the genuine potential at the back of the throne, because it have been). and that i think of we've been very fortunate to no longer get merely all of us, yet to get Nancy Pelosi. valuable, she made blunders, yet all and sundry does of their jobs. i think of as quickly as she gets in to the hot activity, she'll make a brilliant speaker.

Good intentions, negative result...
I believe that she convinces herself that all of these things she does are for the betterment of the United States. She probably doesn't question herself either, there's no other way someone could be so confident.
That's always how it goes though
