It's a nice redwood deck and I have spent years getting it landscaped just right. I wasn't just going to chop it all down in one night!
Ya... I know it would grow back in a season or two... And she said she would hang out on the deck more and might even bring some friends too...
But I like my deck the way it is... Should I change it all for her?

um.......

is your shrubbery overgrown? is it pleasant to be on the deck? its not nice to have bits of shrubbery irritating you when you're supposed to be having fun on the deck. do you enjoy it when she's having fun on the deck? then maybe you could make a change or 2 in the shrubbery while maintaining the shrubbery itself? some things to ponder....

i wish i had a deck.

Did you explain to her you liked your deck the way it was? If so and she persisted, she should have backed off. If that was the case you were quite possibly right to break up with her because it sounds like you don't care for controlling women. If she insists on telling you how to trim your shrubbery, she would probably try to tell you how to run the rest of your life.

Do you mean to say her biggest problem with you was a bit of overgrown shrubbery? Landscaped shrubbery at that? I wouldnt change the deck unless it was unruly and horrid looking.
I wouldnt have broken up with a person over that, but it sounds a bit fishy that that was such a huge problem. There had to have been something else?no?

Absolutely not. If she thinks she can demand changes before the walk down the aisle, then what happens when she does the walk. She could walk around the deck with you and explain that this bush should be - etc. but no - she want to chop just because she is she and she wants things her way. I always warn my nephew that as soon as the walk down the aisle is over and he says I do, she will slap him upside his head and say "The he&ll you don't."

Well, I think you probably should've tried to comprimise first, but if not then it was probably okay. Most people would say it's a stupid reason, but if you really like something the way it is, then she should respect that you don't want to change it. Would you turn into a hick or start acting like a 'gangsta', just so some girl would go out with you? I know I sure as hell wouldn't.

Keep the shrubbery. Tell her to leave your deck alone.

As long as she keeps her bush trimmed, you might want to clean your shrubbery up around the edges at least. It will make your tree look bigger.

yea i think so, if you care about this woman at all take whats she says for what its worth. so she wants you to trim thats not so bad and it will always grow back. plus my man trim and i enjoy it much more and i love to be on his deck now. i think if you care about her tell her your sorry that you just really didnt want to but if she wants you too that badly then you will.
