That's a funny question. Where do you want to get rid of it? I have been to this country for 23 years and still have my accent. I have only received compliments, never criticism. I guess it's possible that there are schools out there who help with pronounciations. I know Arnold Schwarzenegger had to work on his strong Austrian accent. But I'm not sure where that would be. Possibly a linguist.

In Houston, Rice University is the place to get rid of your accent. They have a program for advanced English language students with techiques that demonstrate how to use the placement of the tongue, jaw, and the movement of the month, plus other techiques that greatly improve the way a person pronounces the language. If in another city, try your institutions of higher learning. Good luck!

Take pride in who you are. Who wants to sound ordinary when you can sound extraordinary?!?!
When I first came to university I had the **** ripped out of me because of my accent which is a British Sussex accent (farmer/cockney mixed with a bit of education - apparently I can sound Australian). But the more I gained in confidence the more people said it was really cool and I really do believe it is just confidence that makes the difference.

LOL
I am an English speaker born and brought up in French speaking surroundings. My sister and I are close in age. I have dealt much more in French than her. But she always has sounded French when she speaks French, and I have always had quite an accent.
Some of us just can't do it - we have to live with it!
Are you like me - musically challenged? If so, that could explain it.

I guess it is good you are trying to assimulate. We have too many mexicans in this country that won't even try to LEARN the language, let alone lose the accent. SO, good for you.
