I've been watching One Tree Hill, and at one point a character calls someone their "snuffaluffagus". what does that mean they are then?

Mr. Snaffaluffagus was a character created on Sesame Street in the early 1970's and was a character that on Big Bird could see. Big Bird would talk to him and they would have conversations, but whenever anyone else came by and Big Bird tried to show them that Mr. Snuffaluffagus was real, he wasn't there. If memory serves, he was a large (two people in the costume) purple fuzzy elephant-kind-of animal.

As far as the One Tree Hill reference goes, it could mean that the person doesn't really exist (but that's probably not the case). It's probably just a funny sounding name that's used out of context as an insult, as none of the One Tree Hill characters would probably admit to watching Sesame Street themselves.

Snuffaluffagus was a big fuzzy woolly mammoth kind of thing on Sesame Street. Maybe they're saying that person is all warm and cuddlly, perhaps like a snuffalufagus doll or something?

Mr. Snuffaluffagus was Big Bird's best friend on Sesame Street. At first, everyone thought that he was Big Bird's imaginary friend but then every one started to see him. He looks like a woolly mammoth.

He was Big Bird`s imaginary friend on Sesame Street years ago. No one could see him except Big Bird and the viewers of course. He was a big brown hairy thing with a trunk like an elephant. I suppose it was to teach children that it was OK to have an imaginary friend.

"Aloysius Snuffleupagus, more commonly known as Mr. Snuffleupagus or Snuffy, is one of the Muppet characters on the long-running educational television program for young children, Sesame Street. He resembles a woolly mammoth, without tusks or (visible) ears, as well as a long thick pointed tail, similar in shape to that of a dinosaur or other reptile. He has long thick brown hair and a nose that drags along the ground. He is a friend of Big Bird and has a baby sister named Alice. He also attends Snufflegarten." - Wiki I always thought he was "Snuffleupagus, the Snuffleupagus".

Snuffalupagus was a character on Sesame Street. He was Big Bird's friend and was very shy. All the adults on the Street thought that Big Bird's friend was imaginary, even though he was real.
He always scared me and I hated his theme music!

Suffaluffagus was a character from Sesame Street (old school). He was the imaginary friend of Big Bird! So it might mean that the character meant the other person was not real?
