Maybe that was not about the money - but the betrayal and secrets. Marriages have to have trust and communiction - neither of which appear present in that scenario. I'm not one to throw a marriage away - just think that it's about more than the money.

Don't you wonder why he kept this debt from her, how long it has been building, and what the money was used for? What if was used for keeping a new honey happy? The truth is usually it takes more than one thing to end a marriage. I think she was just looking for an excuse. This is not really about the money.
Now to answer your original question. At the moment my marriage is based on money and health care benefits.

I would hope that most marriages are based on love not money love is eternal and spiritual where as money is just a
paper. I do think some marry for money just becuase they want alot of matrialistic things in there life. But really you should marry for love end of question. You wonder why financial stress is one of the top reasons for divorce?
Ask yourself what would you rather have a loving caring companion for life or a million dollars can only have one not both.
For me it is my wife!

i think people are more materialistic these days and money is a big part of peoples lives. thank god its not in my life there are other things that are way more important.

This could be 15 k debt 20 times over ... shes tired!!! hes a fool... Maybe she never had anything anyway so she figures she looses nothing. A man that loves you plans for the future doesn't keep hurting the future.

I had been married to my ex husband for 4 years and got divorced for more than 10 years now. I was on my teens when we got married because we loved each other. He belonged to a well-to-do family while i'm not, his parents disliked me 'coz we're different (social class and nationality), anyway we ended up in separate ways because of money.... it's not that i wanted to have some money but even if you loved each other but everyone around you doesn't approve of your relationship because of their money, their afraid to share what they have.....it's sad, very sad, they didn't know i didn't care about money at all....that's why i divorced him to proveto them that there are things that money can't buy.....

I am sure that love is more important than money. My wife and I have been married 50years and if money had been more important we would have parted long ago.
Love is priceless and requires constant nurturing. It is nice to have money but it should not be the main reason for living.

Yes, love is more important than money. However, the husband's deceit cuts to the core of his very bad character. Hopefully he can get help.
