I would like to do an Easter Egg Hunt for my 6yr old step daughter. I have no idea how to do one or where to start so I need some ideas. What I have in mind is to have clues which she can understand and at the final clue she finds the eggs "Easter Bunny" has left her. Do you have any pointers for me? or other ideas she would like? Please help me out

I never had clues, Mom would turn me loose and let me find them. She remembered how many we dyed, and counted. If you want, you could make a treasure hunt, use plastic eggs, and put the clue and a piece of candy in each one, to find the next one.
I'm sure you know to keep it simple, you mentioned that in your question.
If using real eggs, use a sticky note.
The next egg, blue as a robin's egg, can be found in a place that we can see birds from. [the window]. The next egg, red as a fire engine, can be found in Dad's favorite place [his lounge chair].
Hope this helps. You could match the color with the person, or the place it is to be found. If dad's chair is green, green egg. If his favorite color is red, well, you get the idea.

That's a cute idea, with the clues. When I was little, we (all my cousins and I) went down to my grandmother's house in our little Easter dresses and the adults went out and hid the eggs. They put different things in them, like candy that was different than what was in our baskets or little plastic rings or whatever; just cheap, fun stuff. Maybe that's an idea you may consider. Also, hide them in fun, easy places. Like, if you have a swingset, stick one out of the pole where she can see it if she glances at it. I know she'll have a blast any way you do it! Easter egg hunts are never a let down. You'll do fine. :)

All you have to do is get the colored eggs (empty) at the store and fill them with treats, and hide them outside or in if the weather is bad. A six year old is old enough to understand what's going on.
