No it's not very necessary. Some people feel shy or they may not like something on their body so they just wear a skirt and no undies and pull the skirt up. etc.
I feel that it is much more intimate and makes a better experience if you can be nude next to your partners nude skin. But it doesn't mean you cant be just as intimate if you wear a gown or whatever too.

Think about another aspect. What if the room is cold (winter)? Most females don't tolerate cold well. She might be more comfortable if she wears a shirt. Ok, so the guy doesn't have visual access to her boobs, but if she is naked and shivering the fun factor will be much less for her.

No, but slowly removing clothing is part of the foreplay, I find. It excites both partners, and if there's something to be cleaned up, you only have to wash you!
On the other hand, a knee trembler behind a tree in the park can by a but of fun, too.

I generally like to be nude, but there are times when you dont have time to take everything off. like if you are in the woods or the mood just hits you to do it right away, no time to take off all the clothes.

In fact sexual activity in clothing can also be erotic. Plus you can use the clothing as part of your play.
However, most people get heated up when in the "heat" of intercourse so they remove the clothing to gain as much exposure of skin as possible.
Additionally, sharing a naked body with your naked partner can be very stimulating and sensual as you "meld" into one during the heights of intercourse.

i think it isn't but if your trying to get to know some one there should be nothing to hide because if that person likes you they like you for you. but on the other hand there are a lot of s.t.d's going around and it is more about seeing whats going one with your partner than the fact of being naked.

no-as long as the d*** can get to the p****, you can do w/e u want in terms of clothing
a lot of ppl prefer to be nude, but that doesnt always work when ur f****** ur secretary after a hard of work in the back of ur car
